Per capita income in Iran decreased three times during last year, former Minister says
Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 30 / Trend, N. Umid
During the administration of Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005-2013), percapita income has decreased three times due to the sharp drop in the value of the national currency, Parviz Kazemi, former Minister of the Welfare and Social Security in the first cabinet of Ahmadinejad said, Iranian Bahar newspaper reported.
He went on to note that, since 2012 Iran's national currency value fell three times, which means per capita income decreased by some 70 percent.
The USD rate in Iran increased from 13,000 rials in the beginning of 2012 to 25,000 in mid September, but suddenly rose to 36,000 on Iran's open market in late September during the course of one week.
Kazemi also criticized delay on the current year's (started on March 21) budget revision, adding that the year almost halved and the revision has not been approved yet.
He underlined that, the negative effects of the current year's wrong budget also will affect next year's budget.
In mid-August, ISNA quoted First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri as saying that one third of government incomes recognized in the budget would not be realized.
In July, Iranian government Speaker Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said the current year's budget is too optimistic so the administration should revise it.
They forecast that the administration would face a $28.25 billion deficit in the current year's budget.
Iraj Nadimi Iranian MP believes that the deficit in the current year's budget may reach $40.4 billion.
Tasnim news agency quoted Nadimi as saying a couple of months delay in submitting budget to the parliament is main reason for the loss.
Some MPs opposed the predicted deficit in budget figures and Iran's parliament dismissed a vote on an urgent current year budget bill revision.
On September 4, the IRNA news agency quoted Iranian president Hassan Rouhani as saying the predicted income of Iran's current year's budget had been realized by 52.8 per cent during the last Iranian calendar month (July 23- August 22).
He went on to note that during the first months of the current solar year, the budget income had been 43 percent realized.
Rouhani recalled that the country is facing a massive budget deficit, adding the current year's budget proposed by the previous administration is unrealistic.
