Azerbaijan increases import of building materials from Georgia by 10 per cent

Some 317,640 tons of cement in the amount of $23.44 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-August 2013, according to a report posted on website of GruzStat (National Statistical Service of Georgia).

According to the report, the specific weight of this category in the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to 5.01 per cent in the reporting period.

The volume of cement export from Georgia increased by 8.12 per cent or 23,850 tons compared to the same period of 2012. For comparison, some 293,790 tons of cement in the amount of $21.57 million was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-August 2012.

In the reporting period the growth of steel bar export from Georgia to Azerbaijan was also observed. Thus, some 39,560 tons of steel bar in the amount of $24.71 million was exported to Azerbaijan in January-August 2013, which is by 9.11 per cent more than in the same period of 2012. For comparison, Azerbaijan imported about 36,250 tons of steel bar in the amount of $24.87 million from Georgia in January-August 2012.

Some $468.04 million worth of goods was exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan during the reporting period.

The export to Azerbaijan increased by 16.97 per cent compared to the same period of 2012. For comparison, some $400.13 million worth of goods was exported to Azerbaijan in January-August 2012.
