Azerbaijan Railways company plans to complete modernizing and reconstructing a 317-km Baku-Boyuk Kesik section by late 2013, the head of the company Arif Asgarov told media today.
"Around 282 kilometers of the railway have been repaired in the west direction," he said. "It is planned that the operations will be completed within the project by the end of the year."
As for the Baku- Tbilisi -Kars project, Asgarov said that the operations within this project are carried out in accordance with a prescribed schedule. It is planned to put it into operation in 2014.
Asgarov said that the operations are underway to modernize the rolling-stock. In particular, Baku received 46 out of 60 carriages transported for overhaul to Ukraine, while the company received 6 of 16 carriages transported for repair to the Russian Federation.
Asgarov stressed that the repaired carriages are used in Baku -Moscow, Baku-Kharkov, Baku -Tbilisi and domestic Baku- Balakan lines.
As for the illegal construction along the railways, Asgarov added that their total number is 2,800, of which 538 are non-residential and other construction - residential.
The relevant decision on the illegal construction will be made by the leadership of the country , he said.
