Asian countries are interested in the Azerbaijani manat as a currency for using in the mutual settlement of accounts, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Bank Khagani Abdullayev told Trend on Monday.
"Such a perspective was put forward as an idea to date. However, it should be considered as some Asian countries are interested," he said.
According to the CBA Deputy Chairman, there is no need to regard such a perspective merely as a technical issue. This is a global issue.
"In perspective, it is possible, but a de facto Azerbaijani manat is used in trade with neighbouring countries, particularly with some Central Asian countries," Abdullayev said.
