Kazakhstan to create dry cargo marine shipping company by 2014

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakhstan will create the first dry cargo marine shipping company by 2014, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with on November 7.

"Dry cargo marine shipping company will be created by the end of the year, the project on expansion of the Aktau seaport will be completed in December 2014, a network of logistic centers of class A and B, with the participation of the private sector will be created in 2014-2015," said Askar Mamin, head of the Kazakh Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy). He was speaking at the 2nd International transport and logistics business forum "New Silk Road."

Moreover, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is going to launch two new container routes such as China-Uzbekistan and China-Europe.

"Currently, 14 regular container shuttle trains run from Europe to Asia. In early 2014 we plan to launch two more container trains from Chinese Xi'an to Uzbekistan and from Chinese Shenzhen to Europe," Mamin said.

Kazakh Railways' head also said that over $60 billion will be invested in modernization and development of Kazakhstan's transport infrastructure and logistics assets.
