The Uzbek State Joint Stock Company Uzhimprom announced an international tender for the project "Production of conveyor belts, agricultural and car tires" with a starting price of $ 190 million, the company said today.

According to the report, the tender winner must construct the technological part of the plant on a "turnkey" basis upon the tender terms of 34 months. The tender bids will be accepted until January 20, 2014.

Uzkhimprom State Joint-Stock Company signed a contract with Chinese Citic Pacific Ltd. in September 2011to build a rubber plant worth $155 million in Uzbekistan.

The plant was supposed to be built by Rezinotekhnika enterprise in the Tashkent region. However, the Uzbek side refused the contract due to changed conditions of the project's implementation and its technical parameters.

The plant which will cost $ 230 million will produce about three million car tires, which will be mainly delivered to the GM Uzbekistan plant in accordance with a new feasibility study. The tire plant will be built in the town of Angren (Tashkent region) by Rezinotekhnika enterprise.

Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Rezinotekhnika was the largest producer of rubber goods in Uzbekistan. The production capacity was 120,000 tires for passenger cars and trailers, 600,000 square meters of rubberized fabric and 1,000 tons of commodity rubber per year.
