Tender announced within WB project for improving displaced persons’ housing conditions in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Social Fund for Development of Internally Displaced Persons announced a tender to purchase services for repairing dormitory No. 18, located in the 41st residential area of Sumgait city within the World Bank (WB) project for improving the living conditions and increasing the income of internally displaced persons in the country, the fund said on Wednesday.

According to the message the participation fee in the tender is 50 manats ($64).

Tender bids with a bank guarantee worth 9,000 manats ($11,473) should be submitted to the fund till Jan. 24, 2013, 16:00, at the address: 57D, Tbilisi Avenue, Baku.

This is the third project in the sphere of improvement of IDPs welfare in Azerbaijan. The project was approved in 2011. It is financed through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD is the part of WB Group).

The government's share in the project amounts to $28.5 million and the WB's - $50 million. Thus, the total project financing amounts to $78.5 million. The agreement on this loan was signed on November 16, 2011.

Nearly 200 microprojects will be implemented within it, which will involve around 120,000-150,000 people. The project will also contribute to improvement of living conditions of nearly 30,000 people. Approximately 1,400 young people will be able to participate in vocational training and get grants to start their own businesses.

Moreover, nearly 1,500 microcredits will be given to IDPs to start or expand their own business.

In total, nearly 185,000 IDPs in Azerbaijan will get more opportunities in infrastructure and services and will be able to improve their living conditions and earn more money.

The official exchange rate is 0.7844 AZN/USD on Dec. 18.
