By Rahim Zamanov - Trend:

A Qatari economic delegation will visit Tehran in the near future to discuss possible ways for boosting trade and economic ties between the two countries, Iran's Econews News Agency reported on Jan. 22.

The two sides will also negotiate over increasing production volume in the two countries' joint oil and gas fields.

Iran's private sector has invited the Qatari delegation, which will arrive in Tehran in early February.

The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation.

In October 2013, Iran and Qatar agreed to establish a joint trade council in the near future in a bid to enhance their mutual cooperation, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported.

The agreement was reached in a meeting between high-ranking Iranian and Qatari trade officials in Doha.

During the meeting, Head of Tehran's Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al-e Eshaq pointed to the status quo in Iran-Qatar economic relations, and said, "We believe that the conditions are all set for the further expansion of economic ties between the two countries."

Vice-Chairman of the Qatari Chamber of Commerce Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al-Kuwari, for his part, said, "Iran has played a valuable role in the progress and reconstruction of Qatar."

Al-Kuwari further called on Iranian businessmen to boost their partnership in Qatar's economic activities.
