The price of six groups of food has risen in Iran in the week to Feb. 28 compared to the same period in the previous year, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on March 4.

According to the Central Bank of Iran's report, the price of cattle meat, tea, dairy products, egg, vegetables and fruits, and legumes increased in that week.

However, the price of chicken meat, cooking oil, and sugar faced a slight decrease.

The Iranian government plans to hand out a second food package by the end of the current calendar year.

Iran delivered the first food package in February.

On Feb.10, Iran's TASNIM News Agency quoted Vice President for Planning and Strategic Supervision Mohammad Baqer Nobakht as saying that the items of the second food package will not be changed.

The Central Bank of Iran reported last week that potato prices have increased by 207 per cent in the past 12 months.
