TRACECA intergovernmental commission meeting to be held in Turkey

A meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the international cooperation program in the field of TRACECA transport (Europe -Caucasus-Asia) will be held in Turkey in autumn, TRACECA national secretary for Azerbaijan Akif Mustafayev told Trend on March 4.

"The issues of holding the meeting will be discussed in Tbilisi on April 3 during a meeting of national secretaries of the program.

"The issue of holding a meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, to be held in autumn 2014 (most likely in September-October) in Turkey will be discussed during the meeting of national secretaries," he said. "It must formally inform about the exact venue."

The current and future projects, financial and other issues as part of TRACECA will be discussed during a meeting of national secretaries in Tbilisi.

A meeting will be also held in Tbilisi on April 2. It will focus on completing the "Logistics Processes and Motorways of the Sea II" project. TRACECA national secretaries and representatives of relevant ministries will attend the meeting.

An agreement on the development of multimodal transportation signed by TRACECA countries in 2009 is one of the components of the legal basis for the transportation in the pilot projects.

TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) is an international transport cooperation program among the EU and its partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. It has a permanent Secretariat in Baku, Azerbaijan.

TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Iran.
