Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) ranked first in its category in the flight punctuality contest conducted by Moscow's Domodedovo airport, the airport said on March 13.

S7 group airlines group - Moscow Domodedovo Airport's partners made the largest number of flights without delays and won the contest as of February. Russia, Polet, Izhavia, Lufthansa, SWISS, Azerbaijan Airlines, Aegean Airlines are also among the leaders.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport summarizes the contest results monthly in eight categories - depending on the frequent flights and a maximum takeoff weight of the aircraft. The best indices in the first category group were demonstrated by S7 group airlines, which made 2,311 flights. 'Russia' company was a winner in the second category - 187 flights without delay. By making 195 flights, Polet was also a leader in the third category. Izhavia made 50 flights without delays in February and won the contest in the fourth category.

Domodedovo's foreign partners-carriers are assessed in a separate group. The most punctual in the fifth category is Lufthansa with 157 flights. SWISS company made 101 flights on schedule and was the best in the sixth category. Azerbaijan Airlines (53 flights) and Aegean Airlines (20 flights) ranked seventh and eighth.

The monthly contest has been conducted by Moscow Domodedovo Airport for over six years and serves as an effective tool for improving the quality of service of an air carrier. During the contest the number of partners increased by a third. As of early February 2014, 84 airlines flew from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to 241 domestic and international destinations. Some 86 of them are unique to the Moscow aviation hub.
