By Milad Fashtami - Trend:

Iran expected its frozen assets to be unblocked as soon as possible.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on April 8 expressed hope that the West fulfills its obligations in regards to the Geneva deal before its 6 month period ends, Iran's Fars News Agency reported.

"Facing obstacles in unblocking Iran's assets seems to be natural, but the work is being done," Afkham said.

She also dismissed the recent anti-Iran resolution by the European Parliament as "unacceptable, worthless and based on false information".

"We have said from the beginning that the European Parliament's resolution using that language and covering those issues is unacceptable. It is a hostile act targeting the Islamic Republic. It used information obtained from sources linked to Iran's enemies and also the Zionist circles. The resolution has used false information. Therefore it lacks any value and is unworthy of our consideration," she said.

Afkham went on to note that the non-binding resolution shows that the European Parliament is not up to speed with international developments, especially the events taking place in Iran.

She further called on European officials to try to have a real understanding of the situation in Iran and make decisions accordingly.
