Georgian company Telasi has announced operating indices for the first quarter of 2014.

Telasi is one of the largest networking companies of Georgia. It is engaged in distribution and sale of electricity in Tbilisi. The number of the company's subscribers reached 500,000.

Telasi consumed 609.69 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the first quarter of 2014, which is 7.1 percent more than in the same period of 2013, the company told Trend on April 22. An increase in electricity consumption volumes was caused by the growth of the country's economy and the increasing number of new consumers.

The company sold 580.96 million kilowatt hours of electricity to consumers in January-March 2014 or 9.2 percent more than the same period of 2013.

The growth of this index is primarily stipulated by a decrease in energy losses in the network.

Electricity losses in the Georgian power system in the first quarter of 2014 decreased by 1.8 percent and amounted to 4.7 percent (28.7 million kilowatt hours) compared to January-March 2013.

The total length of the company's transmission lines was 4,433 kilometers in the first quarter of 2014, which is 7.1 percent (260 kilometers) more compared to the same period of 2013 (4,173 kilometers).
