By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:

Aktau seaport is planned to be transferred to a competitive sphere in Kazakhstan, chairman of the Competition Protection Agency Galym Orazbakov said at a press conference in Astana on April 30.

"Today we have submitted a draft decree to the government," he said. "It envisages analyzing some markets to transfer them into a competitive sphere. Specifically, the matter rests in transferring a sea trading port of Aktau into a competitive sphere."

He explained that the Aktau seaport can compete with the ports in Azerbaijan, Iran and Astrakhan, which are located on the Caspian Sea.

"But the matter rests only in transportation for export, rather than domestic supplies," he said.

"The Competition Protection Agency together the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies will conduct an analysis to determine the list of markets to be transferred to a competitive sphere," he said.
