Iran’s suitcase trade exports to Azerbaijan fall by 58 percent

Iran has exported $3.038 million worth of goods to Azerbaijan via suitcase trade during the last Iranian calendar month (March 21-April 20), which indicates a fall by 57.7 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Iranian Custom Administration's latest monthly report released on May 5 said that the country has exported $1.35 million, $909,591 and $777,818 worth of goods via Astara, Julfa and Bilasuvar custom checkpoints respectively to Azerbaijan during the mentioned period.

Iran has exported $5.577 million worth of goods to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) through suitcase trade in the period, which is 38.27 percent less compared to the first month of the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20).

The figure shares 0.27 percent of the total export value of the country during that period.

During the last Iranian calendar year, the same trade was worth $101.46 million which was 26.92 percent more than the suitcase trade exports in preceding year.

Iran's total non-oil exports to foreign countries stood at $2.824 billion in the first month of the current Iranian Calendar year, while the country's total imports amounted to $2.514 billion.
