Industrial production volume exceeds $14 bln in Azerbaijan since early 2014

The total volume of industrial production which is the capacity of production and rendered industrial services in Azerbaijan, amounted to 11 billion manat in January-April 2014. This is 2 percent less than in the same period of 2013, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

'Azerbaijan's non-oil sector showed a 4.3 percent increase, while the oil sector reduced by 2.9 percent during this period', according to a statement.

High growth was shown in the production of wood products, construction materials, cars, trailers and other vehicles, jewelry, music, sports and medical equipment and other industries in Azerbaijan in January-April, according to the report.

The volume of production in the mining industry amounted to eight billion manat with a specific weight of 72.5 percent in the whole industrial production process during the reporting period. This is 2.2 percent less than in January-April 2013.

The volume of oil production amounted to 14.1 million tons, while natural gas production was equal to 6.1 billion cubic meters in January-April 2014. Oil production dropped by 1.7 percent and gas production increased by 4 percent compared to January-April 2013.

The production volume in the processing industry amounted to 2.3 billion manat with a specific weight of 20.8 percent in January-April 2014 which is 4.1 percent less than in January-April 2013.

Production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 1.4 percent and water supply, treatment and recycling of waste increased by 10.2 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

The official exchange rate is 0.7844 AZN/USD on May 20.
