The governments of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia are expected to sign an agreement on the Silk Wind project in summer, Kazakh Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Azat Bekturov told Trend.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the 9th TransEurasia-2014 International Conference on Transport and Transit Potential. .

The Kazakh minister pointed out that the agreement on the Silk Wind project was expected to be signed during this conference.

It was not possible to sign the document due to the unreadiness of the Turkish side, which didn't have time to conduct internal procedures for signing a decree by the Turkish government, Bekturov said.

Bekturov went on to add that the signing may take place during one of the upcoming events in the sphere of transport to be held in Turkey this summer.

The Silk Wind project, aimed at launching the China-Kazakhstan-Caspian-Caucasus- Turkey-Europe container train, was initiated under the TRACECA program.

The purpose of the Silk Wind project is to create a multimodal train route (container/RO RO) with a primary information exchange system between customs services and railway operators of the project's partners. Countries participating in the project plan to introduce a single tariff on cargo transportation.
