Some 10,070 cars worth $97.69 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-April, 2014, according to a report from the Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat).
Throughout this period, the specific weight of commodities belonging to this category stood at 51.84 percent within the total volume of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan, GeoStat said.
The export of cars from Georgia fell by 19.04 percent or by 2,430 compared to the same period of 2013. By comparison, about 12,500 cars worth $120.66 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in Jan.-April 2013.
A decrease in car supplies to Azerbaijan is due to the country's transition to the environmental standard of Euro-4. Implementation of this standard started from April 1, 2014. Introduction of the Euro-4 significantly restricts the imports of used cars which constitute a large part of car imports from Georgia to Azerbaijan.
