Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, June 5

By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

Turkmenistan started harvesting wheat, and 1,600 million tonnes of grain has to be collected from 860,000 hectares of land, according to a message from Turkmen Agriculture Ministry.

The work is being carried out in Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary Provinces of Turkmenistan, and wheat harvesting in Dashoguz will begin on June 15.

The harvesting campaign will in general include over 2,000 harvesters of such brands as Case, New Holland, John Deere, CLAAS and others.

Some 155 stations in Turkmenistan are ready to receive wheat. The country created a state commission for an efficient harvesting of grain crops in 2014.

Last year Turkmenistan collected 1.6 million tonnes of grain, or 400,000 tonnes more than in 2012.

Turkmenistan began exporting surplus food grain abroad in 2010.
