Bank reserves reduce by more than 5% in Azerbaijan

The expanded monetary base in Azerbaijan amounted to 11.229.3 billion manats as of May 1, 2014, the Azerbaijani Central Bank's statistics report said.

The monetary base increased by 10.2 percent per annum, according to the report. For comparison, this figure amounted to 10.190.8 billion manats as of April 2013.

As of May 1, 2014, the monetary base in manats amounted to 11.105 billion manats compared to 10.094.2 billion manats as of May 1, 2013.

During the reporting period the volume of money in circulation amounted to 10.607.4 billion manats, while as of May 1, 2013, this figure was 9.518.6 billion manats.

The ratio of cash money mass in circulation to the monetary base amounted to 94.5 percent as of May 1, 2014 compared to 93.4 percent as of May 1, 2013.

In turn, bank reserves were equal to 612.3 million manats which is 5.3 percent less than in January 2013 (646.5 million manats).

The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on June 6.
