Azerbaijan remains main market for Georgian exports

Slightly more than one-fifth or 20.5 percent of the Georgia's exports went to Azerbaijan in January-May 2014, the report of "GeoStat" (National Statistical Service of Georgia) on foreign trade said.

Slightly more than one-fifth or 20.5 percent of the Georgia's exports went to Azerbaijan in January-May 2014, the report of "GeoStat" (National Statistical Service of Georgia) on foreign trade said.

Goods worth $240.42 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-May, the report said. The export to Azerbaijan decreased by 10.38 percent compared to the same period in 2013. For comparison, Georgian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to $268.26 million in January-May, 2013.

Armenia takes second place on this indicator- from the beginning of the year Georgian products worth $129.7 million have been exported to this country (11 percent of total exports), the report said.

The third largest exporter of Georgian goods is Russia. Some 108.39 million or 9.2 percent of total exports of Georgia went to Russia in January-May 2014.

Trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan since the beginning of this year amounted to $489.44 million. Some 10.9 percent of the total foreign trade turnover of Georgia accounts for Azerbaijan, which amounts to about $ 4.5 billion.
