Kazakhstan to host international conference on development of renewable energy

Astana will host an international conference on "Prospects for the development and use of renewable energy", the national coordinator of Kazakhstan on the activities of the SCO, the special envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shahrat Nuryshev said Sept.16 at a press conference on the results of the 14th session of the Council of Heads of Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
"In November of this year Astana will host an international conference "Prospects for the development and use of renewable energy". Speaking last week in Dushanbe, Kazakh President noted the importance of the SCO Energy Club and invited the parties to take part in this event," he said.
Dushanbe held the 14th meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO member states September 11-12, 2014. The Kazakh delegation was headed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The meeting was also attended by the heads of SCO member states (China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), the heads of delegations of observer states at the SCO (Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan), the President of Turkmenistan - as a guest of the chairman side, representatives of the UN, CIS, EAU, CSTO and ASEAN.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization, founded in 2001, includes six member states: Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Its observer states are Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan, while Belarus Turkey and Sri Lanka are classed as dialogue partners.
The main goals of SCO include strengthening of trust and good neighborhood between the member states, promoting their effective cooperation in political, trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields, as well as in the sphere of education, energy, transport, tourism, environmental protection and ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.
