Uzbekistan reconstructs one of cement plants

Almalyk Mining-Metallurgical Complex JSC (AMMC, Almalyk city, Tashkent region) in 2015 intends to implement a project to increase capacity at the Jizzakh cement plant, the leadership of the plant told Trend.
The source said that the project is projected to bring the capacity of the cement plant to 1 million metric tons per year.
The source did not mention the cost of the project for reconstruction of the plant, as its feasibility study is currently not finalized.
Earlier it was reported that in March 2014, AMMC completed construction of a cement plant in the Jizzakh region worth $114.18 million.
The project was financed with a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan worth $74.2 million and AMMC's own funds.
Turkish Dal Teknik Makina Ticaret implemented development of working documentation of the technological part, supply and installation of equipment, supervision, construction, installation and commissioning works on a "turnkey" within the framework of a contract worth $97.6 million.
The design capacity is 350,000 metric tons of white cement and 760,000 metric tons of Portland cement per year.
Commissioning of the cement plant made it possible to fully meet the needs of the plant in the cement. Reconstruction of the plant will make it possible to increase the sales of construction products in demand on the domestic market and for export.
Almalyk MMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The plant has the right to develop copper-molybdenum and lead-zinc ores near the city of Almalyk. The company produces refined copper (cathode), metal zinc, lead concentrate and other products.
Uzbekistan currently has 6 cement plants with a total installed capacity of more than 7 million metric tons.
The largest of them are Kyzylkumcement (3.08 million metric tons), Akhangarancement (1.74 million metric tons) and JSC Kuvasaycement (920,000 metric tons).
