Turkey will announce a tender for the construction of the monorail in Istanbul, the agency Anadolu said Jan.13.
It is planned to announce the tender for the construction of a monorail on February 2, 2015.
The length of the monorail line will be 5 kilometers. Both Turkish and foreign construction companies will be able to attend the tender for its construction.
The term of the tender will be 240 days.
Monorail line will be designed to relieve the major highways in the vicinity of Istanbul.
Earlier, Minister of Transport, Shipping and Communications of Turkey Elvan Lutfi said that special tunnels for the passage of heavy vehicles will be built in Turkey in order to relieve the main highways of the country.
He said that at the first stage, it is planned to construct such tunnels in Istanbul.
For 10 months of 2014, the number of cars in the country reached 18.693.972 units, according to the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK).
