Purchases and sales in Kazakhstan’s housing market decreased in 2014

Purchases and sales in Kazakhstan's housing market decreased in 2014, according to the analytical service Ranking.kz.

"The average monthly number of deals on apartments fell by 14.3 percent, and on private homes by 9 percent compared with 2013 year," Ranking.kz's message said. In 2014, on average every month, 8,500 apartments and 4,700 private homeschanged their owners. Cumulative average monthly number of transactions in housing amounted to 13,200 against 15,000 in 2013.

Earlier, in 2011-2013, the sector has shown steady growth in the number of transactions.

Reduced activity in the segment of purchase and sale of apartments in apartment buildings was noted in 13 regions. In two regions, the number of transactions remained nearly unchanged.

Growth was recorded only in the Aktobe region with 68 transactions (13.1 percent), up to 587 transactions.

The sector of individual houses was also in the red. The reduction amounted to 461 transactions of purchase and sale, analysts said.

Monthly average growth was registered only in four regions. The leaders were Atyrau region (plus 25 transactions, up to 113) and South Kazakhstan region (plus 24 transactions, up to 742).
