Number of appeals to Azerbaijani credit register rises by over 40%

The centralized credit register service under the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) received 346,653 appeals in 2014, the CBA's report on the results of 2014 said.

The number of appeals to the service increased by 41.48 percent compared to the same period in 2013 (245,019 appeals), the report said.

The register received 336,621 inquiries from the banks in December 2014 (a 37.75 percent increase for a year). About 10,032 customers appealed to obtain their own credit reports.

As of late December 2014, there were 2,316,540 borrowers included in the credit registry.

The total number of credit data made up 8,977,859. Around 2,285,226 of the total number of borrowers accounted for physical entities, 20,509 - entrepreneurs and 10,775 - legal entities.

The highest increase - 22.83 percent growth is observed among the borrowers comprising of entrepreneurs. The data on physical entities increased by 18.64 percent, but by 6.66 percent regarding the legal entities.

The number of data on guarantors available in the registry was 1,078,807.

The centralized credit register service began operating in March 2005. At present, some 43 of 45 banks operating in the country, as well as 37 non-bank credit organizations are connected to the registry.

The tariff for a single query on a physical entity is 1.1 AZN, a legal entity - 2 AZN. The credit registry does not pursue commercial objectives. Tariffs were imposed to cover administrative costs.

The official exchange rate is 0.7844 AZN/USD Feb. 6.
