Georgia decreases cattle export to Azerbaijan

Georgia exported over 967 metric tons of live cattle worth $2.05 million to Azerbaijan in January-February 2015 or threefold less than in the same period of 2014, the Georgian National Statistics Service's report as of January-February 2015 says.

The share of this category in the total volume of Georgia's exports to Azerbaijan hit 4.5 percent during the reporting period.

The volume of cattle exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan increased by 41.4 percent or by 28,000 metric tons (43.4 percent) in January-December 2014 compared to the same period of 2013.

The exports of cattle from Georgia to Azerbaijan reduced by 2.9 times in January-February and in quantitative terms - by 1308.3 metric tons (2.4 times) compared to January-February 2014.

For comparison, around 2275.4 metric tons of cattle in live weight worth $5.87 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-February 2014.

Around 14.2 percent of Georgia's exports accounted for Azerbaijan in January-February 2015.

Georgia exported $45.92 million worth of goods to Azerbaijan during this period. The export to Azerbaijan decreased by 38.4 percent compared to the same period of 2014.

For comparison, $74.53 million worth of Georgian goods were exported to Azerbaijan in January-February 2014.

Azerbaijan ranks first among the countries to which Georgia exports its products, followed by Turkey ($25.98 million), the US ($23.75 million) and Bulgaria ($22.43 million).
