The foreign partners of Turkmenistan extracted more than 1.68 million metric tons of oil in the first quarter of 2015, Nebit-gaz local industry newspaper reported April 30.

In particular, the article said that for the three months of 2015, oil production on the contract areas Cheleken, Nebitdag, Khazar and Block 1 increased by 18 percent in comparison with the same period in 2014.

A number of well-known international companies, together with which major investment projects are implemented, including the projects on implementation of geological exploration, development of hydrocarbon fields on land and sea, operates in Turkmenistan on the basis of production sharing agreements (PSA).

In particular, the company Petronas Carigali (Malaysia) conducts development of Makhtumkuli, Diyarbakir and Garagol Deniz fields in the Caspian Sea, which are part of the contractual territory Block 1.

The Dragon oil company (UAE) operates in the contract area Cheleken (Jeitun and Jygalybeg offshore fields).
