Hungarian WizzAir will soon resume Budapest-Baku-Budapest flights, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev told reporters July 10.

"The process is underway in this direction," he said.

"WizzAir will resume the flights in the near future," he said. "Moreover, Qatar Airways makes flights to Azerbaijan. A contract was signed with Fly Emirates, which will make flights to the UAE."

Meanwhile, on Oct. 29 AZAL (Azerbaijan Airlines) spokesman Maharram Safarli told Trend that WizzAir airline will not make any Budapest-Baku-Budapest flights in winter. He said that WizzAir will resume flights to Baku in 2015.

Wizz Air Holdings plc is a Hungarian low-cost airline with its head office on the property of Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest.

The airline typically uses secondary airports serving many cities across Europe, and Egypt, Israel, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. It has the largest fleet of any Hungarian airline, although it is not a flag carrier, and currently serves 35 countries.

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Hungary amounted to $95.55 million as of 2014. Around $71.56 million accounted for Azerbaijani exports. The trade turnover increased by 2.9 times due to an increase in exports by 1,560 times compared to 2013.
