New head of Azerbaijan Banks Association named (UPDATE)

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rabitabank Zakir Nuriyev has been elected the new head of Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA).

Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rabitabank Zakir Nuriyev has been elected the new head of Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA), the association told Trend.

He will replace chairman of the Supervisory Board of Caucasus Development Bank Eldar Ismayilov on this post.

The decision was made during the report and election conference of ABA.

Zakir Nuriyev was born in Jayli village of Azerbaijan's Kurdamir district on Oct.2, 1960.
He graduated from Azerbaijan State Economic University in 1981.

Nuriyev started his working career in 1981 as a leading accountant at Control and Inspection Department of the Ministry of Communications.

He served as accountant-inspector, chief inspector and deputy chief accountant at the Control and Inspection Department of the Ministry of Communications from July 1983 till January 1989.

He was appointed to the post of manager of the Control and Accounting Division at Regional Communication Production Association of the Ministry of Communications in 1989.

Zakir Nuriyev worked as chairman of the Management Board at Rabitabank Joint-Stock Commercial Bank in 1993-1998 and has served as chairman of the Supervisory Board at Rabitabank Open Joint-Stock Company since 1998.

He served as president of Azerbaijan Banks Association in 1996-2006. He is a member of Presidium of Azerbaijan Banks Association since 2006.
