Iran will offer €25 billion worth transport and urban development projects to foreign and domestic investors at the first Iran Transportation and Urban Development Summit, which will be held fromOctober 3-4 in Tehran.
Iranian Roads and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi said that 121 projects will be offered to the private sector both from inside and outside the country, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on September 20.
The projects will be in the eight areas in rail transportation, road transportation, sea transportation, urban development, energy saving, maritime industry and airport industry and welfare services, he added.
Head of Iran's Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance, Mohammad Khazaei, said on September 14 that Iran has prepared five plans to attract $30 billion worth foreign investments during the country's sixth five-year development plan (2016-2021).
The organization started one year ago a comprehensive program to absorb foreign investment and channel external sources of finance to the country's infrastructure projects, he added.
Revising executive procedures, improving and modifying regulations and laws, removing bottlenecks, and forming ad hoc committees were among the most important measures which have been taken in this regard, he explained.
Iran's sixth five-year development plan comprises general policies on economic, technological, social, security and defensive, foreign policy, legal, and cultural affairs.
