Azerbaijan was not actually affected by the economic crisis observed worldwide as a result of the accurate economic policy conducted by the Azerbaijani government, Zahid Oruj, MP, the member of the Committee on Security and Defense of the Azerbaijani parliament, told Trend Oct. 29.

He said that the social and economic reforms carried out by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev contributed to further strengthening of the country.

"The world's different countries, including the neighboring ones, have serious social and economic problems," he said. "The population of Armenia can not even satisfy basic material needs and is forced to migrate. Such problems are characterized in other neighboring countries."

He said that as opposed to these countries, Azerbaijan's economy is being developed and every citizen feels the results of the reforms in everyday life.

While speaking about the strengthening of Azerbaijan's position in the World Bank (WB) and International Finance Corporation (IFC), he said that the country's economic achievements are recognized internationally.

"The economic opportunities of the country, conducting the correct and independent internal and external policy, are growing," he said.

"The investments in the non-oil sector led to the further growth of economic potential of the country," he said.

WB and IFC released the "Doing Business-2016: Measuring Regulatory Quality and Efficiency" report.

Azerbaijan in this rating gained 67.8 points and ranked 63rd. In the ranking-2015 Azerbaijan ranked 80th, while in 2014 - 70th. Thus, Azerbaijan has advanced by 17 positions in the ranking.
