The winners of MilliNet, the first and only professional internet award in Azerbaijan, supported by Azerbaijani leading mobile operator Azercell Telecom LLC for 7 years, have been publicly announced. 374 internet resources in 14 categories were submitted, but only 299 websites managed to qualify for the competition.
Board of referees chose the best in the second round from 97 nominees. Nigar Shikhlinskaya, head of Corporate Communications section at Azercell, underlined the important role of MilliNet competition in the development of internet, especially mobile internet and ICT sector as a whole. She indicated that the company will continue to support contributions taken in further development of Internet in the future.
The event continued with the award ceremony. The winners in each category received a special award - Buta made of bronze with the description of spider's web on it. The competition aimed to stimulate and promote the development of best national internet resources started in September.
Azercell always supports the projects serving for the development of internet, a new sector for creative works, professional activity and exchange of information in the country. Azercell has always acted as a supporter of such initiatives contributing to the usage of Azerbaijani language on the web and stimulating the development of national internet resources.
