Italy leading among Azerbaijan’s foreign trade partners

Italy ranked first in the list of Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners in January 2016, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee's report said.

During the reporting period, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Italy hit $206.2 million or 18.75 percent of the total volume of the country's trade operations, according to the report.

Italy is followed by Germany with trade turnover of $148.89 million (13.54 percent), Israel - $98.74 million (8.98 percent), Russia - $78.17 million (7.11 percent), Turkey - $60.35 million (5.49 percent).

The share of these countries in the total trade turnover totaled nearly 53.9 percent.

Italy mainly exported goods from Azerbaijan during the reporting period. The index hit $177.1 million or 26.95 percent of the total volume of the country's export.

The following countries hold leading positions in export of Azerbaijani products: Germany ($126.96 million) which accounted for 19.32 percent, Israel - $98.54 million (15 percent), France - $49.52 million (7.54 percent), the Czech Republic - $45.02 million (6.85 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total export volume hit 75.7 percent.

The following countries entered the top 5 in terms of import: Russia ($60.83 million) which accounted for 13.74 percent of Azerbaijani import, UK - $48.24 million (10.89 percent), Turkey - $43.55 million (9.83 percent), the US - $41.22 million (9.31 percent), Italy - $29.09 million (6.57 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan's total import volume hit 50.34 percent.

According to the report, Azerbaijan carried out export operations in the amount of $657.08 million, while import operations - $442.81 million in January.
