Uzbek insurers increase collection of premiums

Insurance companies of Uzbekistan increased the collection of premiums by 36.9 percent to 347.7 billion Uzbek soums ($1=2979.31 soums on Aug. 17) in H1 2016, compared to 254 billion soums in the same period of 2015, said the country’s Ministry of Finance.

The voluntary insurance premiums increased by 43.6 percent to 239.6 billion soums (from 166.9 billion soums), compulsory insurance – by 24.1 percent to 108.1 billion soums (from 87.1 billion soums).

During the reporting period, the following companies entered the top five for the collection of premiums: Uzagrosugurta JSC – 85.2 billion soums (an increase by 42 percent), Insurance company Kafolat JSC – 37.7 billion soums (36.9 percent), National Export-Import Insurance (NEIIC) Uzbekinvest – 36.5 billion soums (40.1 percent), Alfa Invest – 23.4 billion soums (37.1 percent) and Alskom JSC – 17.9 billion soums (10.4 percent).

Total payments of Uzbek insurers rose by 21.3 percent to 68.7 billion soums in January-June 2016 compared to 56.8 billion soums in H1 2015.

Payments on voluntary insurance increased by 20.8 percent to 43.5 billion soums, while the payments on compulsory insurance rose by 21.1 percent to 25.2 billion soums.

The largest volume of payments were carried out by Uzagrosugurta – 18 billion soums (an increase by 35.4 percent), Kafolat Insurance company – 9.6 billion soums (61.2 percent), Uzbekinvest Hayot specialized in life insurance – 9.5 billion soums (34.3 percent), NEIIC Uzbekinvest – 7.2 billion soums (23.9 percent), Temiryol Life – 5.2 billion soums (2.5 times).

Currently, 27 insurance companies operate in Uzbekistan.
