Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 24

Azerbaijan and Russia will sign two bilateral agreements on cooperation in the spheres of pension provision and labor migration, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan’s Population Salim Muslimov said Nov. 24 at a meeting with representatives of Russia’s Social Insurance Fund in Baku.

The minister said that Azerbaijan is the only country in the CIS, which has no bilateral agreement with Russia on pension provision.

“Now we are preparing to sign two agreements in the spheres of pension provision and labor migration with the Russian counterparts,” he said.

Muslimov added that Russia is the largest economic partner of Azerbaijan.

“We [Russia and Azerbaijan] are exporting natural resources, including the energy ones,” he noted. “Therefore, the fall in global oil prices had a negative impact on our economies.”

Delegation of Russia’s Social Insurance Fund led by Deputy Head of the fund Aleksey Polikashin is on a visit to Baku.

During the visit, the Russian side has held a number of meetings with Azerbaijani colleagues to study Azerbaijan’s experience in the sphere of automation of processes regarding social protection.
