On 12 January 2017 Deloitte organised a conference dedicated to the recently introduced amendments to the Tax Code.

The conference was attended by high ranking officials from the Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan represented by Head of the Tax Policy and Strategic Research main department, Samira Musayeva and Head of International Cooperations and Tax Monitoring in Financial Institutions, Zaur Fatizada.

Managing partner of Deloitte Azerbaijan, Nuran Karimov, and director of the Tax and Legal department, Emil Garayev, delivered presentations on the recent amendments in the Tax Code.

More than 100 guests representing various industries, such as oil & gas, retail, public catering, banking-insurance, construction, logistics, communication, and many others of the Azerbaijani economy attended the conference. During the event the speakers addressed the attendees’ questions, engaged in a productive exchange of ideas regarding the goals put forward by the recent amendments and the government’s expectations of the implementation of such amendments and its practical approach toward them.

“Deloitte is aimed to create a platform for effective cooperation of the government and business in our region. I’m sure that such events contribute to development of open dialogue between the tax authorities and taxpayers in Azerbaijan”, - said Nuran Kerimov, the Managing partner, Deloitte Azerbaijan.

“Holding various discussions with public organisations to the extent of improving business environment is important for the Ministry of Taxes. Liberalisation of tax environment, improvement of tax legislation and administration constitutes an integral part of current tax reforms and going forward will serve for increasing attractiveness of business environment and development of business” - said Samira Musayeva, Head of the Tax Policy and Strategic Research main department.
