Chinese Asia Steel Pipe company has started construction of the large-diameter welding steel pipes plant in Kazakh Almaty, the website of Almaty city administration said in a message.
The pipes produced at this first high-tech plant in Kazakhstan will be used in oil, gas and water industries, as well as in mining, construction and power engineering.
The production capacity of this plant located in Almaty will reach 100,000 tons of pipes per year. The new plant will allow substitution of 60 percent of imported pipes, Bauyrzhan Baibek, head of Almaty city said at the solemn ceremony of laying the capsule of the plant.
As much as 33 billion tenges (311.7 tenges = $1) will be invested in this project. It will create 800 jobs during the construction period and more than 300 jobs after launching the plant.
The project will be implemented within the Program of complex strategic cooperation in oil and gas industry between Kazakh KazMunaiGas and Chinese CNPC.
