Azerbaijan exported goods worth $4.45 billion in January-May 2017 that is by 44.1 percent more than in the same period of 2016, according to a report of the State Customs Committee.
The share of state sector in export totaled $3.57 billion, private sector – $783.5 billion, individuals – $95.61 million.
Azerbaijan mainly exported oil and oil products, gas, plastic and plastic products, as well as fruits and vegetables in January-May 2017.

During the period, import totaled nearly $2.82 billion, which is by 15.4 percent less than in January-May 2016. Some $329.93 million accounted for the state sector share in import operations, and $2.32 billion – for the private sector, $168.49 million – for individuals.
Azerbaijan mainly imported various machines, electronic equipment, ferrous metals, plastic, timber, sugar, vegetables and fruits during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade transactions increased by 13.2 percent and reached $7.27 billion in January-May 2017 as compared to the same period of 2016.
Positive balance amounted to $1.63 billion in the period, while the trade balance deficit of $242.07 million was observed in January-May 2016.
