Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the wheat harvest campaign in the country, Turkmenistan State News Agency reported.
Slightly over 1 million tons of wheat have been harvested in Turkmenistan this year, said the country’s Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Esenmyrat Orazgeldiev at an enlarged meeting of the government.
It was planned to harvest 1.6 million tons of wheat in 2017, according to the report.
None of the Turkmen provinces fulfilled contractual obligations.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reprimanded Orazgeldiev and heads of the regional administration for the unsatisfactory performance of duties and the failure to fulfill contractual obligations on grain procurement.
