More ski resorts to be created in Turkish provinces

Construction of three ski resorts in the Turkish provinces of Erzincan, Erzurum and Kars will be completed soon, a source in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend.

According to the source, the construction of the ski resorts was carried out as part of the “Development of Winter Tourism Corridor in Erzurum, Erzincan and Kars” project, the cost of which is 8.8 million euros.

The project’s implementation is important both for the development of ski tourism and for the economy of the Turkish provinces as a whole, noted the source.

Currently, there are 18 ski resorts in Turkey.

Turkey is actively developing the tourism sector. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), tourism revenues of the country increased by 8.7 percent and totaled $5.4 billion in 2Q17 as compared to the same period of 2016.

Over the past five years, 203.796 million tourists visited Turkey.
