The excise tax on new vehicles manufactured and imported from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan (except for medical vehicles) was reduced to 2% of customs value, Podrobno.uz reported, referring to the decree of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev of September 29 "On measures to further streamline Uzbekistan's foreign economic activity."
Previously, such a privilege was granted to vehicles manufactured and imported from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
The production of Uzbek automakers is not subject to customs duties and excises the Kazakh border. Supplies of Kazakh vehicles to the Uzbek market, in contrary, were blocked by customs and tariff barriers.
Kazakhstan has remained one of the largest export markets for the Uzbek vehicle industry for many years. Kazakh vehicles were represented during a business forum held in Tashkent in September, 2017.
The representatives of the Kazakh auto industry discussed with the colleagues the prospects of supplying cars to the Uzbek market, within the framework of the event.
