Turkmenistan’s land code changed

Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a law on Oct. 10 on making changes and additions to the land code, adopted by the Turkmen parliament, the Turkmen government said in a message.

These changes are aimed at wide involvement of entrepreneurship in agrarian production, development of market relations, various forms of ownership and the introduction of new economic mechanisms in agriculture and more efficient use of lands.

There are also provisions to provide tenants, who have fulfilled their contractual obligations on the state project during 5 years, with land plots.

For implementation of the new law, the Turkmen president instructed the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources and the State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources, to develop drafts of relevant regulations and present them to the Cabinet of Ministers within a month.
