Atameken, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, considers the issue of setting up wholesale distribution centers (WDC), to stabilize prices and strengthen ties between agricultural producers and customers.

The WDCs are expected to reduce the price on food by 13 percent, reduce the lost output by 20 percent and to increase revenues of agricultural producers by 10 percent.

In addition to price regulation, the WDC will help farmers feel the needs of the market, through receiving feedback from customers.

Prices on vegetables, which were stable during summer, started to rise in Kazakhstan.

Price on cucumbers increased by 27 percent (292.6 tenge) per month (October), on potatoes by 20 percent (119.5 tenge) and price on tomatoes by 19 percent (306.2 tenge), Kazakh Energy Prom reported.

The fruits suffered as well, especially the imported ones. Prices on oranges increased by 2.3 percent per month (to 568.1 tenge), and on bananas by 1.9 percent (434.5 tenge).

(Exchange rate on 30.10.2017: $1 – 334.40 tenge)
