The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) can support the newly-created Food Security Agency of Azerbaijan in strengthening national food control regulatory frameworks.
FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia Vladimir Rakhmanin made the remark in an exclusive interview to Trend.
Furthermore, FAO can support Azerbaijan in adopting the Codex-Alimentarius( "Food Code") and other international food standards, as well as in ensuring participation in this Codex.
"We can cooperate on improving food safety emergency preparedness to build resilient agrifood chains and on developing databases for information sharing and tools to support food safety management," he noted.
Azerbaijan has been a member of the FAO since 1995. The organization's office in the country has been operating since 2007.
