Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 9

By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

The first trade house of Kazakhstan may open in Baku in the next two years, a source in the Azerbaijani government told Trend.

The sides are also considering the possibility of opening an Azerbaijan Trade House in Almaty and Astana cities, according to the source.

The issue was reflected in the roadmap adopted following the meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission held in Baku Dec. 7, the source added.

For Azerbaijan, opening of trade houses is an integral part of the comprehensive work to expand non-oil exports. After the fall in oil prices, the Azerbaijani government took a course aimed at the development of non-oil sectors of the economy and expanding trade turnover with major foreign economic partners.

In this context, the Azerbaijani government believes that the opening of trade houses will facilitate the access of local entrepreneurs to foreign markets and make it possible to promote the Made in Azerbaijan brand.

Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Kazakhstan in January-October 2017 amounted to $115.5 million, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
