The supervision over advertising of goods will be strengthened in Turkley within the framework of protection of the consumer rights, the Ministry of Customs and Trade of Turkey told Trend on Dec.13

"In most cases, advertisers when the advertising of goods exaggerate the importance of the goods. Consumers, buying goods, remain unhappy with its quality, "the ministry said.

Earlier the Ministry told Trend that Turkey will fine the e-commerce companies that send consumers SMS ads without their consent.

The ministry said that to fight this problem, a special online platform was created where consumers can place their complaints.

“In case of a complaint from a customer, the company sending SMS ads will be fined 5,000-20,000 Turkish liras,” the ministry said.

The new online platform will also control the volume of daily electronic commerce in Turkey.

According to the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUIK), there are 48 million internet users in the country and 43 percent of them shop online daily.
