Uzbekistan's financial sector renders biggest share of services

The services rendered in Uzbekistan valued a total of 116.8 trillion soums in 2017, which is 8.9 percent more than in 2016, the Ministry of Economy told Trend Jan. 16.

The share of the services sector in the country’s GDP decreased from 49 percent in 2016 to 47.3 percent last year.

The increase in the value of services rendered last year is related to the appearance of a number of new types of services in the market. They include payment for goods via plastic cards, internet sales, expansion of services of educational institutions and entertainment industry facilities.

The greatest growth in the services sector was observed in Tashkent city - 14.6 percent. Increase of 6 and 7 percent was observed in Navoiy and Sirdaryo regions, respectively.

The biggest growth in 2017 accounted for financial services - 35.9 percent, educational services - 20.6 percent, communication and information services - 17.3 percent, architectural services - 13.7 percent.
