Opening of the Cankurtaran road tunnel in the northeastern Turkish province of Artvin is scheduled for late February, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications told Trend Feb. 1.
The ministry said that earlier the tunnel was expected to be opened in late December 2017.
The tunnel’s construction started in early 2010 and its total length is 5,900 meters, said the ministry.
The ministry said the commissioning of the Cankurtaran tunnel will contribute to improving the transport system in Turkey.
