The number of plastic cards issued in Uzbekistan amounted to more than 19.22 million as of Jan. 1, 2018, Uzbek media reported referring to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
The figure is less by 1.53 percent compared to the beginning of 2017.
Commercial banks of Uzbekistan installed 235,712 terminals (an increase of 13.03 percent) and 5,632 ATMs and info-kiosks (an increase of 13.68 percent) during the reported period.
The amount of payments made through terminals amounted to more than 52.97 trillion soums (a decrease of 0.15 percent).
Currently, there are 27 commercial banks in Uzbekistan, including three state, five - with the participation of foreign capital, seven private and 11 joint stock companies. Almost all banks in the country issue plastic cards.
